How it works

Rework flagged text in three steps

1

Paste the flagged passage

Start with the paragraphs Copyleaks highlighted rather than the whole document. That keeps the rest of your writing exactly as it is.

2

Humanize it

PureWrite rebuilds sentence structure and rhythm in a natural voice. Paid plans also let you pick the output language.

3

Recheck before you resubmit

Read the built-in AI score, then run the final version through Copyleaks yourself if you have access.

Where you run into Copyleaks

Most people never choose Copyleaks. It is switched on for them, and who switched it on decides what happens after a flag.

  • Inside your LMS. Copyleaks plugs into Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, Schoology and Sakai, and its LMS page says AI detection comes with those integrations. If your school shows an "AI detection" result in Canvas, Copyleaks is one of the likely sources.
  • The browser extension. Copyleaks offers an AI detector extension that checks text on any page, so a reader, client or editor can scan your work without you knowing.
  • Publishers and HR. Content teams and recruiters use Copyleaks too. Here a flag usually means a rejected article or application rather than an integrity process.

How Copyleaks differs from GPTZero and Turnitin

CopyleaksPercentage-style detectors
ResultA headline verdict on whether AI content was found, with highlighted passagesA single AI percentage or probability
LanguagesMore than 30 languages, according to CopyleaksMostly English; Turnitin's humanizer check is English only

The multilingual detail matters more than it looks. Copyleaks says its AI detector covers more than 30 languages and keeps false positives low for non-native English text. If you draft in one language and translate into English, the translated text can still come out with the flat, regular rhythm detectors associate with AI. A rewrite that varies sentence length and word choice helps there, whoever wrote the first draft.

What a humanizer changes, and what it does not

A Copyleaks report can contain two different problems, and a humanizer only addresses one of them.

SignalWhat triggers itDoes humanizing help?
AI contentPredictable word choice and an even sentence rhythmYes. This is what PureWrite rewrites.
Plagiarism matchText that matches a published sourceNo. Quote it, cite it, or write it in your own words from your notes.

Running copied text through any rewriter to dodge a plagiarism match is still plagiarism. The fix is citation. Our guides on paraphrasing without plagiarizing and free plagiarism checkers cover that side.

How to test a Copyleaks humanizer yourself

Copyleaks updates its model regularly, so a screenshot from last year proves nothing. If you have access to Copyleaks, test with the kinds of writing you actually submit:

SampleWhy it is a good test
ESL essay paragraphTests whether rhythm, not grammar, is what Copyleaks reacts to
Business report sectionFormal register with numbers that must survive the rewrite
Discussion postShort, casual text where detectors are least reliable

Scan each sample before and after on the same day and note the date. Check that every fact and number survived.

Between runs, our AI detector gives a quick read without using up Copyleaks credits. PureWrite is designed to pass Turnitin, GPTZero, ZeroGPT, Originality.ai and Copyleaks, but no tool can promise how Copyleaks will score a specific text.

Use it responsibly

PureWrite is for your own drafts and for AI-assisted writing your school, client or employer allows. If Copyleaks flagged writing you did yourself, keep your drafts and version history, and see whether AI detectors are accurate before you respond. Our ethical use policy has the rest.

Why trust this guide

We build both sides of this problem: a humanizer that rewrites AI text and an AI detector that scores it. That means every guide here is written by the same team that tunes the engine against the patterns AI detectors flag, so the advice reflects what actually passes today, not last year.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Copyleaks publishes high accuracy figures for its own detector, but independent studies of AI detectors keep finding false positives and disagreement between tools. Treat a Copyleaks flag as a signal to look closer, not as proof. Our guide on whether AI detectors are accurate covers the research.
